Fall at Mines of Spain

A Wisconsin woman was seriously injured after a fall at the Mines of Spain recreation area. Police say 23-year-old Kristen Lancaster of Milwaukee fell off a cliff early Thursday. Emergency crews were called about 3am to the Julien Dubuque monument. Firefighters located Lancaster and she was taken to Unity-Point Health-Finley Hospital. She was later transferred to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City with serious injuries. Lancaster had been hiking with another person when she fell more than 50 feet.
