The Darlington Police Department is shared a post on their Facebook page earlier this week raising awareness for their new pedestrian crossings on Galena Street. The new signs were installed as part of the highway reconstruction project. The intersection in question is Galena Street at Wisconsin Street. Pedestrians now have the ability to activate the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) when crossing the highway. This is a pedestrian-actuated warning device used at uncontrolled crosswalks to warn motorists of pedestrians or bicyclists waiting to use, or that are already using, the crossing. It has flashing yellow lights that are highly visible to motorists that may be approaching the crossing.
