MADISON, Wis. — Issac Guerendo, who was a key part of the Badgers’ rushing attack last season, is transferring to Louisville.
Guerendo announced the move Tuesday, just over a month after he announced that he entered the transfer portal. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
The Indiana native debuted for Wisconsin in 2018. He played in 4 games in 2021, notching 160 yards and a touchdown, before having a breakout season in 2022.
Guerendo, along with Chez Mellusi, stepped up when starter Braelon Allen dealt with injuries. Guerendo rushed for 385 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns over 12 games. He also recorded 115 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.
The personal finance major also served as one of Wisconsin’s kick returners last season, totaling 454 yards over 19 returns.
Guerendo joins a Louisville squad in the middle of transition. Head coach Scott Satterfield left the Cardinals on Dec. 5 to replace Luke Fickell at Cincinnati, after Fickell left for Wisconsin.
In Satterfield’s place, Louisville hired Jeff Brohm, who coached at Purdue for the last six seasons and is a Louisville alum.
The Cardinals went 8-5 in 2022 and beat Cincinnati in the Fenway Bowl
