Officials have identified the three men who died Sunday after their boat capsized in the Mississippi River near Bellevue. 30-year-old Mitchell Thomson of Stanwood, Iowa; 40-year-old Nicholas Thomson of Tipton, Iowa; and 61-year-old Kirk Stout Sr. of Marion, Iowa, all drowned as a result of the incident. The men were boating Sunday morning around 11 AM in an area marked restricted directly beneath Lock and Dam No. 12 at Bellevue when their boat capsized. One man was recovered and taken to shore by another angler, while the remaining two were recovered by emergency services. Lifesaving measures were performed on all three men, though they were ultimately unsuccessful.
