Identities of school shooting victims released

The identities of the two fatal victims from Monday’s Abundant Life Christian School shooting have been released. The student who was killed was identified in an obituary released Wednesday as 14-year-old Rubi Patricia Vergara of Madison. She was a freshman at the school. The Dane County medical examiner Wednesday evening identified the teacher who was killed as 42-year-old Erin Michelle West. Both were both pronounced dead at the scene. Six people were injured. The Madison Police Department announced, two students with life-threatening injuries remain hospitalized, while four other people with minor injuries were discharged. Rupnow was pronounced dead at a hospital Monday as a result of “firearm related trauma.” Police don’t know if anyone was targeted in the attack or if the attack had been planned in advance. They are still investigating a motive.
