A favorite Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens water feature is in trouble, and staff members are sounding the alarm for help. The facility’s Japanese garden koi pond needs a new pump and filtration system, as the current infrastructure is starting to fail, said arboretum Executive Director Jenna Hirtz. Altogether, the arboretum needs to raise $180,000 to cover all the costs and is asking the public for help. To make a donation, go to dubuquearboretum.net/wish-list/ or mail a check to 3800 Arboretum Drive, Dubuque IA 52001 and specify it is for the koi pond’s pump and filtration system.
