Authorities said one person was killed and two others were injured Monday in a head-on crash near Maquoketa. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. That person’s name has not been released. 27-year-old Kyle L. Harland and 22-year-old Megann L. Post both of Maquoketa, transported themselves to Jackson County Regional Health Center for treatment of injuries, the report states. The crash happened just after 6 p.m. Monday on Iowa 64 near mile marker 27. The report states that a vehicle driven by the person who would be killed in the crash was traveling east on the highway. Harland was driving west, with Post as a passenger. The eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck Harland’s vehicle head-on, according to the report. The eastbound vehicle came to rest in a ditch, while Harland’s vehicle came to rest on the north shoulder of the road. The report states that the crash remains under investigation.
