Officials at Wisconsin’s Technical College System voiced their support for the state joining a lawsuit against the Trump administration. Wisconsin joined more than 20 other Democratic-led states Monday in asking a federal court to unfreeze more than $6 billion in what they claim is unlawfully withheld public education funding. The Department of Education froze funding for six public education programs in late June. Some of those programs include money for immigrant students as well as services for English language learners. The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) voiced their support for the lawsuit filed Monday, saying the funding under the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) is critical to their students. The Wisconsin Technical College System officials said that roughly half of their more than 34,000 students rely on funding from the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act.
