A Dodgeville man accused of killing a woman whose body was found in Nebraska will not be transferred back to Wisconsin “in the immediate future.” According to a Facebook post by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, Gavin Thompson, will remain in custody without bond in Nebraska. Officials also stated there will be no other further updates released until the 23-year-old is back in Wisconsin. Thompson’s attorney did file a request for a competency evaluation. The next court date for Thompson in Lancaster County is set for Aug. 26. Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon was expected to file a fugitive from justice complaint Monday to seek Thompson’s extradition to Wisconsin. Thompson was charged in Lincoln last week with operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, hiding a corpse and theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more. A Lancaster County judge set Thompson’s bond at 10% of $5,000,000 last week. He faces charges in Iowa County, Wisconsin, of first-degree intentional homicide, burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon, hiding a corpse and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. Thompson is accused of stabbing Dorinda Segebrecht to death. Her body was found in the back of her SUV after the crash in Nebraska. Iowa County and Dodgeville law enforcement have said her death was a random act of violence.
