Grant County woman has entered the race to represent Wisconsin’s 17th Senate District, aiming to represent rural interests with a progressive flair. 64-year-old Lisa White is running as a Democrat for the seat held by state Sen. Howard Marklein. A native of rural Potosi, White grew up on a farm as the oldest of seven children — an experience she said built her confidence. She served as president of Potosi-Tennyson Area Chamber of Commerce during the revitalization of the Potosi Brewery. In 2015, White launched The Painter Lady, a painting business that has expanded in recent years, serving northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.
