On Sunday the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit (Diego) initiated a traffic stop in Prairie du Chien. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 52-year-old David Coulter of Owatonna, Minnesota, and his passengers were identified as 50-year-old Cari Brink and 55-year-old Tod Frieden both of Waukon, Iowa. Initially, Frieden provided a false name to law enforcement as he had a felony warrant for his arrest, and he was discovered to have methamphetamine on his person. A search of the vehicle was conducted that resulted in the discovery of more methamphetamine, unprescribed pills, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Frieden, Coulter, and Brink were arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Frieden faces an additional charge of obstructing a law enforcement officer.
