A three-year-old child died on Saturday after being hit by a vehicle in a driveway in the town of Watterstown. An initial investigation showed 38-year-old Melinda Brown of Boscobel was returning home when the child ran across the driveway to meet her. The sheriff’s office said the woman instructed the child to move from the driveway so she could park and he ran toward the house. The sheriff’s office said another child was also present and was moving toys from the driveway, and the child unknowingly came back toward the vehicle without her seeing him. The child was hit by the front tire of the SUV. Family members took the child to Empify Hospital in Boscobel, where he later died. The sheriff’s office said an initial investigation indicates this was a tragic accident, but it remains under investigation.
