The new Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing connecting Iowa and Wisconsin is scheduled to open to traffic on Friday, Nov. 6, transportation officials announced Monday. The Wisconsin DOT and the Iowa DOT said a specific opening time will be announced in late October. The early November opening is significantly ahead of the original spring 2027 timeline. Project staff credited the early completion to concentrated work by the contracting team, along with favorable weather and river conditions. Ferry service will continue through Nov. 6 until the bridge opens and will be discontinued after that.
