A group of about 100 people gathered at City Park in Platteville Saturday to hold a peaceful protest of racism and police brutality. The group made signs to express “Black Lives Matter” and “No Justice, No Peace” in response to the choking death of George Floyd in Minneapolis while he was in police custody. After making the signs, the group marched down Main Street, over to Platteville High School, and back to City Park. Event organizer Tianna Irons of Platteville, who recently relocated from Madison says she’s encouraged by the group, who come from different backgrounds and experiences. Another peaceful protest is planned for next weekend in Platteville.
