JFC Approves $283 Million Road Spending Plan

Legislators in charge of planning the state budget say they’re going to prioritize local roads and bridges in the coming year. The Joint Finance Committee has approved a $283-million dollar transportation spending plan. In a statement, JFC Co-Chair Senator Howard Marklein of Spring Green said “this additional funding will help accomplish more road projects and improve the conditions of streets” across Wisconsin. Committee officials say that, in addition to expediting local roadwork, the plan accelerates 22 state highway projects that were slated for future years. Legislators added that these funds will help Wisconsin make faster progress on road maintenance and repairs.
