Sauk County authorities are searching for a driver who they say hit and killed a bicyclist on a rural county road Monday night. Officials say a caller contacted dispatchers around 10:30 p.m. Monday to report that a bicyclist who had left home around 7:30 p.m. still hadn’t returned home. A deputy with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of County Road B and Cassel Road to check on the biker’s condition and later found a crash scene on the roadway, just east of Cassel Road. The bicyclist, who was still alive when the deputy arrived, suffered serious injuries in the crash. The deputy attempted life-saving measures, but the victim ultimately died of their injuries. The victim’s name is being withheld until their family is notified. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run or the suspect vehicle is asked to contact the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
