Hunters in Jo Daviess County killed 1,378 deer during the seven-day Illinois firearm deer season that wrapped up Dec. 8, according to preliminary state figures. That total was up 10 deer from the 2023 season in Jo Daviess County, according to the state Department of Natural Resources. Out of the state’s 102 counties, Jo Daviess County ranked 15th-highest for the total number of deer harvested. Statewide, 82,496 deer were killed, a 7.8% increase over the 76,854 deer in the 2023 season.
