Maintaining financial health and weathering enrollment declines are among the priorities of a 2025-2031 strategic plan the University of Wisconsin-Platteville released this week. The launch of the plan culminated a nearly two-year process which included feedback from students, faculty and Platteville community members. Among the plan’s strategic objectives is achieving “optimal enrollment,” with listed strategies of diversifying enrollment pipelines and leveraging scholarships and grants to bring students to Platteville. Also stated in the plan was maintaining a balanced budget, which has not always been the case. Attached to the objectives in the strategic plan are performance indicators, such as graduation and first-year student retention rates, for which annual target values will be set. A third-year review could reset the plan’s objectives and goals as needed. The university will also explore the feasibility of a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
