The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls reporting a scam. The caller of this scam will identify themselves as an employee with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and advises the victim that they have an active arrest warrant. The caller will then tell the victim to turn themselves into the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office or deputies will be en route to their residence. In one instance the caller requested money over the phone. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s is advising residents they will NOT contact individuals with active arrest warrants or request money over the phone to take care of them.
