The Badgers are in the Grand Canyon State as they prepare to take on Oklahoma State in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. Wisconsin touched down in Phoenix on Christmas Eve.
After spending Christmas morning at the Salvation Army, the team spent the afternoon preparing for Tuesday’s game. The Badgers will make their 21st straight bowl appearance, the third-longest such streak in the country. Wisconsin has won 7 of their last 8 bowl games.
Tuesday will mark a Badgers debut for new head coach Luke Fickell. Wisconsin hired Fickell in November just a day after the regular season ended. The move came as a shock to many who expected then-interim head coach Jim Leonhard to be given the job.
Fickell has won 2 of the 5 bowl games he has coached in. He is on a two-bowl losing streak, falling to No. 9 Georgia in the Peach Bowl in 2020 and No. 1 Alabama in the College Football Playoff Semifinal last year.
The Badgers have never played Oklahoma State, and haven’t played a bowl game in Arizona since the 1996 Copper Bowl. Tuesday’s game will be played at Chase Field, the home of MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks.
Kickoff is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. central time on ESPN and the ESPN app.
