The Village of Elizabeth needs a new village president. According to an online announcement from the Village of Elizabeth, Michael Dittmar, who has served in the role for the past 15 years, submitted his resignation earlier this month. Dittmar won the March primary election for the District 13 Jo Daviess County Board seat, defeating fellow Republican candidate Donald Berlage. No Democrats filed for the seat. Dittmar’s resignation letter states that his resignation will become effective on the date he is appointed to the county board position. If he is not appointed, the resignation is void. Village Clerk Karla Rolwes said the village board plans to appoint a trustee to serve as village president at the next board meeting.
