Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob apologized Sunday after video circulated on social media showing him and other bishops praying with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office . Grob said he was invited in mid-September to join a group of 12 bishops for discussions about matters important to the Catholic Church, including human dignity and immigration enforcement. The bishops were told the October meeting would be private and that several Catholic members of the Cabinet might attend. After a 90-minute discussion with White House domestic policy staff and advisers, the bishops were taken to the Oval Office to meet Trump. Grob alleged that photos and videos of the meeting were taken without the bishops’ consent. After the video circulated, he said he received messages expressing concern that he had inadvertently taken part in a political event less than two weeks before a national election. According to Grob, the meeting was not an endorsement of Trump, his policies or his party.
