A Dubuque man has pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery in connection with a fatal 2023 shooting in Dubuque. 29-year-old Terry Valrie entered his plea Friday morning in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County, and the plea subsequently was accepted by Iowa District Court Judge Monica Zrinyi Ackley. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled. Valrie initially was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Lonnie Burns of Dubuque. As part of his plea deal, the first-degree murder charge will be dismissed.
