A man has been sentenced to two years in prison for a Grant County stabbing. 45-year-old Johnny Simon of Orlando, Fla., recently received the sentence in Grant County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to charges of first-degree reckless endangerment of bodily safety and substantial battery with the intent to cause bodily harm. Simon initially was charged with attempted homicide in relation to the case but received the lesser reckless endangerment charge as part of a plea deal. The charges stem from a Sept. 17 incident in the 5500 block of Southwest Road in Platteville Township where a stabbing was reported. One adult male had been stabbed and cut multiple times by Simon and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment before being flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
