UTV causes significant damage in Vernon County

Authorities are searching for a UTV driver who caused significant damage to multiple cornfields in Vernon County early Friday morning. The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office said someone driving a side-by-side utility terrain vehicle with a loud exhaust damaged crops along a 1.6-mile stretch of Tainter Hollow Road between 12:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 25. Investigators believe the driver intentionally drove through several fields and private yards. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who discovered damage to their property in the area to call. Property owners with surveillance or trail cameras are encouraged to review footage from early Friday morning.
