Iowa County authorities investigating a homicide in Ridgeway

The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a man was found dead during a welfare check in the Village of Ridgeway on Thursday morning. The Ridgeway Marshal’s Office and an Iowa County Deputy were dispatched to a residence on Collins Street late Thursday morning to conduct the welfare check and found the deceased man inside the residence. A person of interest is currently in custody, and authorities say there is no danger to the public. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with names being withheld at this time as the investigation continues. Authorities are seeking information from anyone who observed suspicious activity during the late afternoon or evening hours on Feb. 11. Anyone with information should contact Iowa County Crime Stoppers or submit a tip through the Iowa County Sheriff’s app.
