The Dubuque City Council amends the open-container ordinance. The current ordinance bans open or unsealed bottles and cans of alcoholic beverages in any area that could be accessed by the driver or the passengers of a vehicle. Changes in state law and the increase of THC drinks being sold led Dubuque police to request the change. These items may be transported in the trunk or behind the last seat of a vehicle. Violators of this law could be charged with a simple misdemeanor.
