A 19-year-old UW-Madison student was arrested Sunday for allegedly recording videos of others at a dorm bathroom. UW-Madison police responded to a residence hall where several victims shared similar experiences. While inside a restroom stall, the man in the adjacent stall would drop a cell phone on the floor beneath the divider, with the camera lens facing upward, while the victim was using the restroom. Police said that the man would retrieve the phone after a few seconds in each instance. One victim claimed they grabbed the phone after it occurred a third time that day and saw it was recording. The suspect, from Berlin, Wis., was booked into the Dane County Jail on three counts of disorderly conduct and three counts of capturing an image depicting nudity without consent. These incidents remain under investigation, and it is believed that there may be more victims. Anyone who believes they may be a victim is encouraged to contact UWPD.
