A Delavan police officer who was arrested in Illinois on stalking charges earlier this year has resigned. City of Delavan officials said 31-year-old Joshua Bittner reached a resignation agreement with the city that went into effect Wednesday. The agreement gives the city legal protections while paying Bittner the unused vacation, compensatory time and holiday leave benefits he would have received had he been fired or left his job under different circumstances. Bittner, who has been with the Delavan Police Department since 2023, was arrested in March in Winnebago County, Ill. Online court records show he is charged with aggravated stalking, providing a false report and two counts of violating an order of protection. He pleaded not guilty during an arraignment last month and a status hearing in the case is set for next Wednesday.
