Formal charges have been filed against a 31-year-old Wauzeka man accused of striking a woman and her dog with his vehicle before fleeing the scene last month. Donovan Bruns faces two felony charges in Crawford County Circuit Court: hit-and-run involving great bodily harm and second-degree recklessly endangering safety, according to court records filed Monday. The charges stem from an April 28 incident on Rhein Hollow Road where 68-year-old Katherine Oswald was walking her dog when she was struck by Bruns. Emergency responders airlifted Oswald from the scene for medical treatment. After the collision, authorities say Bruns fled to Iowa where he took extensive measures to hide and alter his vehicle before law enforcement located him. Bruns appeared by video from Grant County Jail during his initial court appearance Monday. Court records show Bruns is held on an $800 cash bond with a no-contact order with the victim. An adjourned initial appearance is set for May 21.
