Early Friday evening Lafayette County Deputies responded to Highway 151 in Belmont Township for a traffic complaint. 32-year-old Nathan R. Nilles of Madison was traveling on Highway 151 when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a guardrail in the median. Nilles was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. UW-Platteville Campus Police and Lafayette County Highway Department assisted. Nilles was cited for Operating Without a Valid License (OWL – 1st Offense), Open Intoxicants, Operating While Intoxicated (OWI – 1st Offense), and Failure to Maintain Control. In addition, 85-year-old William J. Pilling of Mineral Point was cited for Failure to Yield/Move Over to Emergency Response.
