One person is dead following a crash involving a pickup truck and a buggy in Lafayette County. Late Tuesday afternoon, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a truck vs buggy crash in the 17000 block of Highway 23 in Willow Springs. Investigation of the crash revealed that an Amish open style buggy, pulled by a single horse and driven by 56-year-old Joseph Z. Glick of Mineral Point was traveling northbound on Highway 23, when the buggy was struck from behind by a pickup truck, also traveling northbound, driven by 36-year-old Brett D. Durni of Dodgeville. Glick was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette County Coroner’s Office. Durni, was not injured. The horse pulling the buggy was severely injured and had to be euthanized at the scene. Highway 23 was closed down and detoured for a short time during the investigation of the crash. The crash remains under investigation This is the second motor vehicle fatality of 2026 on Lafayette County roadways.
