One adult, two juveniles injured in Smelser crash

Two juveniles and an adult were transported following a crash in Smelser Sunday afternoon. Emergency personnel responded to a two-vehiclce crash on Highway 81 just north of Debuhr Ln. 49-year-old Jaime Bhattascharyya of Platteville, was stopped in the lane of traffic waiting make a left turn into a driveway when 22-year-old Lucas Jansen, 22 of Benton, rearended her vehicle. Jansen stated that he had been distracted by his radio and did not see the other vehicle had stopped in the roadway. Bhattascharyya was not injured but her two juvenile passengers were taken to Southwest Health Center in Platteville, for suspected minor injuries. Jansen was trapped in the vehicle, and after extrication was transported to Southwest Health Center for non-life threatening injuries.  Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene.
