Grant County investigating two deaths

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after receiving a report of two individuals with gunshot wounds in the Township of Smelser. Shortly before 1:30 PM on Saturday law enforcement responded to a residence where they located a male and female on the ground outside near a vehicle. The female was deceased, and first aid was rendered for the male. The male was transported to Southwest Health Center in Platteville and then transferred by ambulance to a hospital in Madison where he passed away as a result of his injuries. No identifying information was released pending notification of family. Both individuals were familiar with each other and this is believed to be an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and additional information will be released when appropriate.
