Despite opposition from community members – Ridgeway Elementary School will close. The Dodgeville School Board voted Monday 4 to 3 in favor of shutting down the facility. Earlier this year, the Ridgeway Home and School organization had started an online petition to keep the Iowa County school open. The petition asked for district officials to wait until after April 30th to vote on the future of the school – because that date is the open enrollment deadline. They also asked to keep the school open through at least next spring to give the community time to review other options. District officials have cited financial reasons for the closing of the school – which has about 50 students enrolled in it right now.
