On Thursday, administrators with UW-Madison and the Universities of Wisconsin presented a plan to implement a new paid parental leave policy to many employees beginning July 1. The presentation was made to the UW Board of Regents’ Business and Finance Committee meeting on the UW-Platteville campus. The plan as drafted would add paid leave for faculty, limited appointees, academic staff eligible for the Wisconsin Retirement System, non-temporary employees, post-doctorates, and UW-Madison graduate assistants. Workers meeting the above criteria and who have served the universities for at least six months will be able to take six weeks of paid time off upon the birth or adoption of a child. Part-time employees will get a prorated amount of time off based on their full-time equivalence.
