A Dubuque man died in an apparent suicide last week following a brief interaction with East Dubuque law enforcement officers. The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. Thursday when East Dubuque police officers responded to the city’s public boat ramp following a report of a “suicidal person possibly armed with a gun. Reports say upon arrival at the boat ramp, officers located the vehicle that had been described to them by dispatch officials. They attempted several times to make contact with the driver, after which a single gunshot was heard from inside the vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle and located a man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
