Tens of thousands of customers are without power in southern Wisconsin as of Wednesday morning after severe weather moved across the area. As of 6:15 a.m. over 27,000 MG&E customers were without power. Outages were spread throughout the provider’s coverage area. MG&E said this is one of the largest outages experienced in its history. MG&E said restoration is expected to take multiple days. The News 3 Now/Channel3000.com newsroom briefly lost power as storms moved through the Madison area. Alliant Energy and Madison Gas and Electric’s outage maps experienced technical difficulties for over an hour Tuesday night. As of 8:15 p.m. CT, Alliant Energy’s outage map indicated over 3,400 customers were without service. That included over 1,700 customers in Sauk County. In Iowa County, 994 customers were without power.Grant County EMS reported significant damages in the Lancaster and Potosi area. They are reporting power outages as well. Around 9 p.m EMS reported that numerous agricultural buildings were detroyed in the Fennimore area. No injuries were reported.
