Last Saturday around 6:00am, a Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a 2013 Ford Edge for a traffic violation on Highway 35/61 near River Lane Road. The driver was identified as 45 year old Howard Wood of Darlington. During the contact, a K9 alerted on the vehicle. The driver fled from the traffic stop. During the pursuit, the Ford Edge took a series of roads, and turned onto Marsha Lane, in Potosi Township. The vehicle was located in a wooded area of a residence on Marsha Lane. A search of the area was conducted including two area K9s. A K9 and other officers located the driver, hiding in a shed, on a property about ½ mile away from the original location of the traffic stop. Wood was arrested and taken to the Grant County Jail. Wood was charged with Eluding, and Criminal Trespass to a Dwelling.
