Grant County authorities say a rural Lancaster man is in jail without bond after allegedly beating and holding his girlfriend against her will. The sheriff’s office says a woman went to a local hospital Thursday with bruises, contusions and broken bones she said were inflicted by her boyfriend, 47-year-old Nicholas Voss. Voss already had a felony warrant for sex-offender registry violations and another active warrant from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Voss was taken into custody without incident by the Southwest Wisconsin Emergency Response Team and booked into the Grant County Jail on the warrants and new charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment and felon in possession of a firearm. Court records show Voss was convicted in 2020 in Grant County of substantial battery with intent to cause bodily harm, false imprisonment, felon in possession of a firearm, disorderly conduct and battery.
