A former correctional officer for the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office was arrested following an investigation into misconduct during his employment. 33-year-old Adam Rice was a correctional officer for approximately four years. The sheriff’s office said concerns were initially raised by Iowa County team members who identified documentation that was not consistent with standard procedures, and an internal review was initiated. To ensure transparency and impartiality, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was requested to conduct an independent investigation. Sauk County authorities arrested Rice for felony Misconduct in public office – Act inconsistent with duty, felony Misconduct in public office – Falsifying records/statements, Theft of movable Property (≤ $2,500), and Possession of illegally obtained prescription medication. On Thursday, Rice was taken into custody and transported by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office to the Sauk County Jail for booking and is awaiting a bond hearing.
