The city of Dubuque Water Department has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for much of the southern portion of the city. The affected area is approximately bordered by Dodge Street to the north and extends south to city limits and to Dubuque Regional Airport. The area is bordered to the west around Crescent Ridge Drive and the Mississippi River to the east. According to a press release, the advisory affects about 5,500 addresses. A water main break on Indian Ridge, combined with a temporary, construction-related water main shut down in the area, resulted in a brief loss of pressure within the area’s water distribution system, which triggered a boil advisory due to potential for bacterial contamination.
