A driver and passenger are dead after their SUV struck a tree head-on in Vernon County. According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened in rural Viroqua along County Road NN around 1 p.m. on Friday. The SUV went off the left side of the road, then further across a hay field before striking a tree head-on. Sheriff Roy Torgerson says evidence leads his office to believe the driver suffered a sudden medical event. The driver and passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff Torgerson reported Sunday morning the driver was 77-year-old Gerald Bina, and the passenger was 75-year-old Fern Bina.
