A Mineral Point daycare provider who is charged in an infant’s death has asked for a change in court venue. 31 year old Joanna Ford’s defense team made the request at a September 29th motion hearing. Her team presented 48 exhibits, largely from social media. Ford is accused of causing the death of a four-month-old boy who was allegedly injured while in her care on February 25, 2022. The child died four days later on March 1st. A criminal complaint stated Ford was negligent for leaving the baby unattended by an adult. Ford is charged with six felonies. One is first-degree reckless homicide; the others are child neglect charges. Iowa County Judge Lisa McDougal has not made a decision about the change of venue motion. Ford is due back in court Oct. 20.
