The Northeast Iowa Community College has placed President Herbert Riedel on administrative leave, effective immediately and until further notice after three closed meeting sessions. The three closed sessions began Monday at 9 a.m. and each were called to discuss a “personnel matter.” Agenda items were listed as relating to the college’s executive director of human resources, an “employee complaint” and the college president. After the vote, Board President Jim Anderson told Herbert Riedel, “Effective immediately, we appreciate you not going to the campus.” Arrangements will be made for Riedel to collect his personal items. No further information was provided on the agenda, and the board offered no public discussion of the matter after its vote.
