University of Wisconsin-Platteville officials announced Wednesday that they are eliminating 111 positions in an effort to address a budget deficit. According to Chancellor Tammy Evetovich, the eliminated positions represent 12.2% of the college’s workforce. The move is part of a broader set of efforts that reduced the university’s structural deficit for fiscal year 2025 by more than $9 million. The announcement came just over two months after Evetovich announced UW-P faced a $9.7 million structural deficit in its budget for the current year and that university leaders were considering furloughs and layoffs, among other budget cuts.
