Unemployment rates in local Iowa counties dipped in September compared to a month earlier, while a local county in Wisconsin maintains that state’s lowest unemployment rate. According to the latest reports, Dubuque County’s unemployment rate was 2.9% in September, down from the 3.1% recorded in August and up slightly from the 2.7% recorded in September 2022. According to Iowa Workforce Development, Clayton County’s unemployment rate was 2.9% in September, compared to 3.3% in August and 2.5% in September 2022. Delaware County’s rate was 2.2%, down from 2.8% in August and up from 1.9% a year ago. Jackson County’s rate was 3.2%, down from 3.7% in August and up from 2.7% a year ago. Iowa’s statewide unemployment rate was 3% in September, up from 2.9% in August but down from 3.1% a year ago. In Wisconsin, Lafayette County’s unemployment rate was 2.3% in September, which continues to be the lowest in the state. In Illinois, Jo Daviess County’s unemployment rate was 4.2% in September, up from 2.9% a year earlier.
