The Fennimore School Board held its final meeting of 2023, on Wednesday, Dec. 20, with the main attraction of the meeting being the results of the recent community survey that was sent out last month. The surveys were sent out gather community feedback on school district potential improvement projects covering four categories which are, major building systems, classrooms and support space, safety enhancements, and compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. 466 responses were received. The results showed that when it comes to support of a possible April 2024 referendum and the estimated cost of $17 million to complete the noted projects, 62% of those surveyed answered either “definitely” or “probably” in support of a referendum. The results of the question, would the community support an additional $3.5 million project to free up space for future expansion into the middle/high school, which would include relocating the football field, and raise the mill rate to 9.03, the percentage dipped some. Registered voters who said they would “definitely” or “probably” support the additional $3.5 million project came in at 42.5%.
