Grant County Officials Still Looking For Man in Friday Crash

Grant County authorities are looking for a man they say was involved in two high-speed chases and a crash that destroyed more than 100 yards of fencing and a cattle gate Friday morning. According to Sheriff Nate Dreckman, Deputies were dispatched to Highway 35 near Sugar Cane Road in Beetown around 9:15 a.m. Friday on reports of a single-car crash. The car, a 2007 Cadillac Escalade, had been headed west when it crossed the center line, going off the south side of the road and striking several fence posts. The driver, 35 year old Nate Dietzen of Menasha, destroyed about 100 yards of barbed-wire fence with the car before driving across a field and into a cattle gate, a 6-by-6 fencepost and several feet of mesh-wire fencing. Dietzen then drove through another field and into a second cattle gate, which he opened manually before driving through it. A steep embankment combined with high snowbanks stopped the car from returning to the road, so the driver headed back down the ditch line, hitting a culvert and getting stuck. The car Dietzen was last seen driving was likely stolen, Dreckman said. Police are still searching for him and have asked that anyone who spots him not approach him, though authorities do not consider him dangerous. Any sightings of Dietzen can be reported to the local authorities or by calling 911. Police are not sure whether he is still in Grant County.
