Nonprofit organizations across the tri-state area this month will feel the impact of nearly $5 million being funneled to various programs. The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and its affiliates plan to disburse a total of $4.8 million in grants this month from the hundreds of endowment funds it hosts for area nonprofits, making it the biggest payout from the funds in the foundation’s history. The majority of the foundation’s assets are endowed, meaning they are in permanent investment funds that pay out a portion each year. As of Dec. 31, 2023, the foundation had $150 million in assets, 77% of which was endowed.
